EGB1 is designed for students who wish to become more comfortable using English at work, or who are planning on a business career. Classes will help students develop fluency and confidence in everyday business English including: introductions, telephone and face-to-face conversations, participating in meetings, making presentations, writing effective emails, and intercultural business communication.

Evaluation and Certificate
At the end of the English for Global Business 1 Course, students receive a personalized evaluation and those who succeed are rewarded a certificate of course completion from University of Toronto, New College.

English for Global Business 1 is designed for students who wish to become more comfortable using English in their current job, or who are planning on a business career. Classes will provide practice with everyday professional activities such as introductions, telephone and face-to-face conversations, meeting participation, presentations, emails, and intercultural communication. Grammar will be reviewed as needed, but the main aim of this course is to help students to develop fluency and confidence in using English at work. The course includes practice in both speaking and writing, but the primary focus is on face-to-face communication. Students will also be expected to complete a final project designed by the teacher.
In order to receive an IEP course certificate, students must:
- actively participate in class activities.
- show improved fluency over the course of the program.
- complete the final project, along with any assigned homework, to the satisfaction of the teacher
Activities and assignments in English for Global Business 1 focus on the everyday language and skills used in the workplace. The course is most appropriate for students who have recently entered the working world, or who know that they will need English for their future career.
