English for Global Business 2 (EGB2)

Age: 18+
Course Length: 4 Weeks
Schedule: 9:00 to 12:00, Monday to Friday
Classes: 15 Hours / Week
Minimum Level Required: Intermediate
Business Experience: Minimum 1 year business experience

EGB2 is aimed at students who already use English at work, but who wish to develop their language skills to handle higher-level communication such as leading meetings, writing memos, negotiating, and promoting intercultural client relationships.

Suggested Afternoon Course: Speaking and Pronunciation Course (SPC)

Evaluation and Certificate

At the end of the General English Course, students receive a personalized evaluation and those who succeed are rewarded a certificate of course completion from University of Toronto, New College.

Course Overview

English for Global Business 2 is designed for students who already use English at work, but who wish to practice their ability to handle higher-level English communication such as leading meetings, writing memos, negotiating, and developing intercultural client relationships. Grammar will be reviewed as needed, but the main aim of this course is to help students to develop fluency and confidence in using English for business purposes. The course includes practice in both speaking and writing, but the primary focus is on face-to-face communication. Students will also be expected to complete a final project designed by the teacher.

In order to receive an IEP course certificate, students must:

  1. actively participate in class activities.
  2. show improved fluency over the course of the program.
  3. complete the final project, along with any assigned homework, to the satisfaction of the teacher.

Activities and assignments in English for Global Business 2 focus on the language
and skills needed in a developing career. The course is most appropriate for students
at an intermediate+ level who have been using English at work for at least a year.
